Pipe & Verse Episode 4

Paladin in a LaRocca, Bach on life and pipes, All Those Things

Hello and welcome to Pipe & Verse - Building fellowship through spoken word shared unapologetically, amid the swirls of aromatic pipe tobacco.

Codger Comparison: Paladin Black Cherry in a LaRocca pipe

Verse: “So Often I My Tobacco Pipe” (selection in part) Johann Sebastian Bach 1734, and an original work (in draft) All Those Things

This week in Pipe

The Codger Comparison enters week three with a first look at Paladin Black Cherry tobacco. Paladin will be difficult to compare to the other blends in this project. Rather than put Paladin up against Captain Black Original, Carter Hall, and Granger, we’ll use Cult Blood Red Moon and a house cherry blend from our local B &M.

This week in Verse

I’ve got two pieces to share; the first is an excerpt from a poem by Johann Sebastian Bach titled So Often I My Tobacco Pipe (a.k.a Edifying Thought of a Tobacco Smoker), written around 1734. Who knew Bach wrote poetry? Not just poetry, but lines about pipe smoking! I’m going to share the first segment of his poem and offer my interpretation as to its meaning in life today.

I’ll also introduce an original work-in-progress, tentatively titled All Those Things.

Thank you for hanging around and helping me grow this pet-project!

Thanks for reading Pipe and Verse! Subscribing and sharing are the best ways to support my work.
